Beneath
the waves, a lost world of adventure and discovery awaits the pioneer.
Scuba diving is the ultimate way to experience this underwater planet
and its spectacular marine life. The lesson, lasting for approximately
1 hour, will include using diving equipment and diving techniques, such
as mask clearing and exchanging underwater signals.
A try
dive is perfect for people who want to try the sport without spending
unnecessary amounts of time and money. Scuba diving is a great way of
keeping fit by increasing lung capacity, relaxing the muscles and the
mind and can even burn up to 450 calories an hour.
The BSAC is the
governing body of scuba diving and snorkelling in the UK, with over
1500 BSAC Clubs (branches) across the UK. BSAC qualifications are
recognised around the world. Proper training is recommended and can be
arranged through the BSAC. People with medical conditions are advised
to consult their GP or a BSAC instructor before diving.
Following
on from a Try-Dive, participants can take the BSAC Ocean Diver course
at a BSAC Branch or School. The BSAC Ocean Diver qualification will
help you witness first-hand the phenomena of the underwater world, its
coral reefs, shoals of fish, turtles and underwater wrecks.

The
2003 National try dive week at Lowestoft swimming pool
The event
was held at Waveney sports and Leisure Centre on 23rd Sept, we had 15
participants who all said that they thoroughly enjoyed the experience,
all of the participants came through local advertising from the BSAC
posters, local radio stations and word of mouth. It was a great evening
and excellent team effort from all members who enthusiastically
supported the branch. We had terrific support from our local dive shop,
Kings Watersports and Leisure, who loaned us many sets of masks and
fins and also had a display of equipment for people to look at. We
enhanced the BSAC pack with our own information which has given rise to
a couple of new members and two more coming again for another try dive.
Everyone in the club seems to enjoy this annual event and look forward
to next year.
The

Lowestoft

rewarded with a very good response. The event took place on the 3rd
September at the Waveney Sports & Leisure center pool. On the
night 17 people came along to have a go, with a further 14 two weeks
later from the 2nd Oulton Broad Scout Group. It was a great team effort
from all the members with every one taking part. The club has since
welcomed seven new members and is aiming to take part in the same event
next year. Thanks to Waveney Leisure center for their continued support
with the club. Most of the attendees came from advertisments placed on
notice boards and local press who advertised for us. Thanks to Kings
